Geocache Description:

Cache is an ammo can with a few odds and ends thrown in at the last second. This was an unplanned cache so it isn't stocked very well. There is a small unmarked pullout on the north side of the highway that westbound traffic can use. East bound traffic can park on the south side a few hundred feet farther away in a larger parking area for the Hancock Peak trailhead. It is an easy walk across the meadow to the marker. You may have to hop the creek in your search for the cache.

For several years I've noticed what looked like the remnants of an old bridge over here and my curiosity finally got the best of me today. There is a steel historical marker sign indicating that this bridge is part of what is called the "Old Sorrel Trail".

During the winter of 1898 men from Cedar City used this trail to haul lumber from Jensen's Sawmill (GC1WJMD), 7 miles east of here, down to Cedar City for building the school house. This building is now known as "Old Main" on the SUU campus.
