This series continues from the Wander in Wet Sleddale circuit. It provides a grand walk, with a great variety of scenery and surprisingly good conditions under foot most of the way. The full circuit from the parking in Wet Sleddale is about 16km/10m and needs about 5 hours by the time you've found the caches, stopped to admire the views and enjoyed Ralf's land. 31/7/08 - or 3hrs 15mins if you're a mad runner like Slateman!
Getting started: The logical line continues from WWS 3 - Shining Level, directly to Seat Robert via the gate waypoint, below. This misses out the last in the WWS series. Either come for another visit or, if you want to do all the caches, try one of these two options.
• Reverse the last two in the WWS series. From Sleddale Hall, go straight up the hill on the footpath by the stream, past the waterfall, to White Crag Gate. Visit WWS 4 then back to the Gate and along the lovely bridleway to WWS 3, then up to Seat Robert.
• Do the WWS circuit in order. From WWS 4 head for Seat Robert. The only issue is that following along the wall leads to Gambling Well, which is very boggy. The best route is to head for the small cairn on Gambling Crag and go north about the Well, coming at Seat Robert from the NE.
The cache: Ok, so by some route or other, here you are ready to sit down with Rob. It's a great viewpoint and has a satisfyingly large pile of rocks and a cairn on the top. It also has a very unusual 'trig point'. The cache is about 20m from the top in a small outcrop / collection of rocks. Only one small rock guards the hide.
