Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Mentone Airport! The cache is a lemonade container with various trade items.

Lawrence Bell, the aviation pioneer who developed one of the first helicopters was originally from the Mentone area, and this airport was created in honor of him and his accomplishments. The Mentone Airport is also the home of the Popular Rotorcraft Association. If you are in town August 5-9, 2008, plan to stop in for their annual Fly-In event which will include air demonstrations and many different rotorcraft vehicles, including gyro planes and helicopters! Also, if you have time, stop in to see the nice aviation museum in Mentone. Have fun!
