From the fifth cache, head across the final field, a good view of Abbey Bridge here. Follow around the top of the steep bank to reach the stile. On joining the track, go right to visit the Abbey, or left over the old bridge and continue the walk.
Go past the car park and the 'chalet' house on the left, and straight on to a small sign; turn right and head for a stile, waypoint below. This is the only area where we encountered cows with calves. It's now a pleasant walk along to Keld on well marked footpaths with simple stiles and good views. One of the walls is crossed on an unusual, narrow 'staircase' of steps, then the tree is soon reached.
Be careful of stones hiding in the long grass - it's not as flat or easy to walk around the tree as it looks! There are several holes in the tree and the cache is tucked into one. BYOP. Please re-hide well as the tree is often visited. It's a great place to hide from summer downpours, get some shade or just sit and admire the view over Ralf's land. You can see much of the route from here, including Seat Robert. A good place for contemplation.
