The walk along the river is very good with lovely grass swathes to follow. Continue on the track past Steps Hall, cross a small stream on some stones, then leave the wall and head south on the track, returning to the river side. Keep by the river all the way to the concrete bridge. Straight across, again stay by the river.
The small quarry is a grassy bowl overlooking an old measuring weir. An iron bridge proudly displaying its makers name carries the Thorney Bank road over the river. Be gentle retrieving the cache as the rock is loose. BYOP.
Last leg, turn right at the road and follow along until you see the gate to Cooper's Green footbridge and a return to your parking spot here or at the dam. We hope you enjoy your wander around Wet Sleddale and the adventures in Ralf's land. No doubt this cache will get a few visits from folk doing a shorter trip, as well as you hearty adventurers who've survived the Forest!
