Sponsored by Iowa DNR and staff at Lake Wapello

The Iowa DNR and staff at Lake Wapello, the Wapello County and Surrounding Area Geocaching Organization, AKA WACkOSAGO would like to invite you to Lake Wapello for a day of non-competitive caching and friendship.

The posted coordinates will lead you to the restaurant where you will register and have the caches loaded to your GPS. Registration will make you eligible for prize drawings later in the day. This building is handicap accessible and will be open all day.

Lunch will be available.

There will be 95 temp caches, ten or more are handicap assessible, and a new permanent logger cache. There are also 100 permanant caches in the Wapello County - Ottumwa - Eddyville area.

Lake Wapello features 80 campsites, 42 with electricity and 14 cabins. Both cabins and campsites may be reserved by going to (visit link)

The lake has been drained for repairs but the park and trails are fully maintained and well mowed. So if you are coming to fish and swim it won't be much fun. But if you want to find some caches this is the place to be. Caches will be available all weekend
