This is a 4 part multicache. The coordinates listed above are for the first cache. Each cache along the way will give you the coordinates for the next cache along the way. Forest cover may make zeroing a little tough but with a good eye it should not be hard.
The Trail of the Washoe was at one time a marked nature trail. Lake Tahoe was an important part in the life of the Washoe Indians. Summers were spent at Lake Tahoe hunting, fishing, and collecting medicinal plants, roots, and berries for the winter season. This nature trail, when in existence, explained the how the Washoe Indians utilized this area. Unfortunately, this trail is no longer included in the mantained Lake Tahoe Visitor Center Nature Trail system. The trail still exists but the educational signs along the way are long gone. This trail is approximately ½ mile long. It is not difficult to follow and will take you to the banks of Taylor Creek before making a sharp left hand turn, bringing you to your final cache and then back to your starting point.
This is a beautiful little area for a walk. It offers exercise, a small view of Lake Tahoe, cool shady forest, a walk along Taylor Creek with the opportunity to see the Kokanee spawn in the fall and spectacular fall colors.
Enjoy your walk. If you would like to learn more about the Washoe Indian history at Lake Tahoe, be sure to visit The Washoe Exhibit in the Baldwin Museum, across the highway at the Tallac Historic Site.
First to find can claim unactivated, trackable "Diamond GeoGem".
