Dit is een wandelcache in en rond het “Gewestbos Ravels”, beter
bekend als de “Ravelse Staatsbossen”. De tocht is ongeveer 9 km
lang. In het zomerseizoen is bescherming tegen insecten geen
overbodige luxe. Ook teken zijn hier in overvloed te vinden, hou
daar rekening mee. Na een fikse regenbui kan aangepast schoeisel
goed van pas komen.
De tocht loopt langs 11 waypoints plus de stash. Op elk waypoint
kan je gegevens vinden om het volgende waypoint te bereiken. Op
WP’s 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 en 11 vind je ook
telkens een code onder de vorm van ‘GC A=…’, soms bij de
coördinaten, soms in de buurt maar nooit verder dan 2 meter
verwijdert (behalve bij WP5, daar is het iets verder). Op WP 11 ga
je alleen op zoek naar de code. Vergeet de codes niet te noteren
want ze zijn noodzakelijk om de
stashplaats te berekenen. In de zomer
kan het dichte bladerdak voor een slechte ontvangst zorgen zodat
grote afwijkingen ontstaan. Daarom zijn alle
tags te vinden op de meest voor de hand
liggende plaatsen.
De wandeling verloopt overal over wegen of paden. Ga niet dwars
door het bos hollen, het is trouwens verboden. Enkel voor de stash
moet je even het pad verlaten (ongeveer 20 meter). Let wel op: het
paadje dat naar de stash leidt is niet zo makkelijk te zien. Even
zoeken en je vind het wel.
Nog een paar praktische zaken: een prikstok is hier niet echt nodig
maar wat je wel kan gebruiken is een spiegeltje.
En nog dit: tijdens het jachtseizoen is het mogelijk dat er op
bepaalde tijdstippen in het bos gejaagd wordt. Dit wordt dan
aangegeven aan het infobord op de parking.

This cache is a walk in and around “Gewestbos Ravels”, better known
as the “Ravelse Staatsbossen”. It is a 9 km long walk. During the
summer season, protection against insects is strongly advised. Also
ticks are very much present, so keep this in mind. After a period
of rain adequate shoes are needed.
You will need to cover 11 waypoints and the stash. At every
waypoint you will find the information to reach the next waypoint.
At WP 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 11 you will also find a code in the form of
‘GC A=…’, sometimes near the coordinates, sometimes in the vicinity
but never more than 2 meters away (except at WP5, there it will be
a little more). At WP 11 you will only need to search for the code.
Don’t forget to write down all the codes because you will need them
to calculate the place of the stash. In summer the leaves on the
trees can be the cause of bad reception. For this reason all of the
tags are fixed on the most obvious places.
During this walk it is not necessary to leave the roads or paths.
Don’t go running through the woods. This is forbidden. Only for the
stash you will need to leave the path for a short distance (app. 20
meters). Attention: the little path that leads to the stash is
difficult to spot. You will certainly find it if you make an
effort.
Some practical things: digging is not really necessary so you can
leave those sort of devices at home. What you do need is a
little mirror. And for better understanding: the Dutch word
‘graden’ means ‘degrees’.
During the hunting season it is possible that hunting in this woods
is scheduled at some specific moments. A notification will then be
presented at the information board on the parking area.
