Easy multi stage cache on a former Karoo farm amidst interesting old wrecks at around 780m asl
All the begging of many a scrap metal dealer wanting to pay R700-R1000 per ton for these old wrecks, inspired this cache. The going rate for scrap in July 2008 is R3500! Yet the history of these old cars would have been lost forever and so the unique geocaching and photographic opportunities.
This multi cache starts at the above waypoint (S33 36.990 E19 43.639) within 800m of the final cache and will take ~ 1 hour to complete. Parking at S 33°36.953' E 19°43.649'.
Approach via the R318 (N1-Montagu) and take the Laatsrivier turn off to get to Simonskloof, you can overnight there too, meet the Matata's and cash in on several more caches in the area for accommodation phone: 023 614 1895 or just google it.
At S33 36.990 E19 43.639 you’ll find the FORD FAIRLAINE:
The last digit of its odometer reading is “C”
At the same spot you’ll also find the OX WAGON (last registered in 1935!):
The number of oxen pulling it NOW is “D” :)
Now take a little walk across the dam wall to S33 36.966 E19 44.057 here you’ll find a FORD CUSTOM: The number of small dials in the dashboard is “B”
At S33 36.942 E19 44.056 you’ll find a ZEPHYR:
The sum of its Serial number (down to one digit!) is “E”
Lastly at S33 36.924 E19 44.030 you’ll find a VANGARD:
The number of clips on its front left (passenger side) fender is “A”

- Logbook and pencil
- Lizards egg (still to be born)
- Leather sheath FOR a lighter (cool stuff)
- Franklin Whistle (from Taiwan via the USA)
- Lego chopper blade (gives your toy some wings)
- Elephant eraser (not that there are any…)
- Light stick (now you are glowing!)
