Geocache Description:

This Cache was placed in conjunction with the "Dakota Territory Challenge" in 2008.

The Dakota Territory Challenge is an annual event sponsored by Black Hills 4 Wheelers over the Labor Day weekend. 2008 is the 26th year of the event. Participants from around the country gather to run trails of various difficulty through out the Black Hills. Members of Black Hills 4 Wheelers host the event and lead the runs.

This cache is placed along one of the easier trails run at this years event. This is the first time that the event will have a run which includes both 4 wheeling and Geocaching. The run will include locating this cache and several others in the area. The leaders of the run will use this as an opportunity to introduce some 4 wheelers to the sport of Geocaching and show some experienced Geocachers great caches in the Black Hills.

If you want to hike to the cache park at the coordinates shown for parking and enjoy the 2.5 mile round trip. Two uphill stretches have a total of 500 ft of elevation gain.

If you have a capable off highway vehicle you can drive very close to the cache. Be warned that the trail has some good sized rocks that can do damage to the under side of your vehicle. If you are driving an ATV please do not cut new trails around the rocky spots.

When we placed the cache the raspberries along the trail were ripe and tasted wonderful.
