Geocache Description:

This tree, several hundreds of years old, is called “Oak Tree of the Third”. But the third of what? Was it a place of justice (the third power after the Church and the Nobility) in the Middle Ages? Did it indicate the ownership of the “Fortress of the Third”, true “Castle of the Devil” or did some sort of Bluebeard live here, rampaging travelers and craftsmen? Was it planted by representatives of the “Third State” to celebrate the French Revolution? Or was it simply an oak tree at the boundary of a property that belonged to someone else, the third?

If you have any further suggestions, please drop them in the mailbox at the foot of the tree. The local “Committee of Wise Men” will study any and all entries diligently at the annual village fair.
