Geocache Description:

Crescent Waterfall is located in the Bighorn Area along Hwy 11 also known as the David Thompson Hwy Located approx 50km east of the Banff National Park, It is open year round with many visitors.

the Bighorn River that flows over crescent falls, has shaped its way through layers and layers of limestone, sandstone and shales that are presumed to be deposited close to a 100 million years ago. Where the falls are formed you can see a hard layer of sandstone. Sandstone does not erode like limestone and shale does. The uneven erosion rate of rocks is called differential erosion and is responsible for the formation of crescent waterfall. To log this cache you must email the owner with the following information 1)Estimate the height of the main and tallest waterfall known as crescent falls 2)Count the number of exposed layers in the west bank beside the falls 3)Post a picture of you holding your GPS with the falls in view. Please do not leave the marked areas, Rocks can be very slippery and become very dangerous.
