(May I ask the next intrepid Geocacher to bring a simple container with a log sheet along🤔? Please replace it if needed😍!)
I take you to a magnificent spot through rainforest and open Eucalypt country.
The cache is well hidden and contains log book, pencil, pencil sharpener “Germany”, eraser “Soccerball”, long flexible pencil, blow pipe with ball, ball puzzle, glow in the dark ball, “FTF Craze Comic #1” Geocoin, “Geo Jerry” Travel Bug.
After parking at S16°52.516’ E145°40.638’, 34m ASL, you should do this walk up the Smith Trail in the early morning, when the sun does not burn too much. The climb to Ground Zero will be steep in parts and take you about 20 to 30 minutes. Be careful going down especially in the wet. Bring some nice swapping stuff along. At the right times you can watch the tourist train from the cache site, 246m ASL. It passes far down between the tunnels. You will also admire the landscape and see Glacier Rock and the Barron plains.
For fit and keen walkers I would strongly recommend a round walk passing Toby’s Lookout, crossing Stoney Creek upstream, then returning via the Douglas Trail, passing Glacier Rock, and using the road to find your vehicle again. You should allow four to six hours. It offers stunning views and the opportunity to "tick" quite a few of other caches such as "The Ice Age starts here", "RAILCRUISER", "WEIR - R – U", "I’ve got a train to cache" and if you add another two hours, even "The Bushwalking Cache".
