A flat micro in northern Montclair
This cache is a micro that resembles a very small book! It is roughly four inches square and one deep and opens like a hardbound volume (sort of...you'll see!).
This is the neighborhood where I grew up and holds many fond memories! This quiet street was my "backyard" for bike riding, climbing trees, Big Wheel racing and various other juvenile mayhem. I remember putting a smoke bomb in a mailbox near here when I was eight and all the letters got covered in green dust!
The structure where the cache is found is a recent addition in the last twenty years. This area along Highway 13 is also directly above the Hayward Fault! The soils in this valley area between Montclair to the east and Piedmont to the west are mostly alluvial with a heavy base of clay about two feet down. I know about this because of all the post holes I dug for things we built at my dad's house nearby!
This cache may be tough for shorter cachers, but it fits nicely, so be sure to put it back (deep in) as you found it so it is not too obvious.
Original contents are a micro log book with pencil and a bag containing very small trade items! Enjoy!
