Geocache Description:

DNUC stands for Definitely Not Urban Caching, because even city dwellers such as us like to get out of the populated areas sometimes. Hidden at an elevation of 616 metres, very near the highest point on the Malahat. Best accessed on the weekend, when the machinery is quiet.

There are several ways in to this cache, some involving much more of a walk than others. We actually wanted a long hike, so our round trip track, which started at a locked gate, was just over 11 kilometres. On weekends, which is when you'll want to do this one, you can hike to within about 150 metres of the cache on logging roads (or with the right vehicle you can drive up), then it's a bit rough for the last bit and you'll have to use good judgement to find a way up. It's unlikely many people will go for this cache, so there won't be a geotrack. There are some good views along the way. As for the hiding place, our older son said, "It's under wood, on Wood."

Of course, use appropriate caution and don't go for this one at night or alone.
