Welcome to MacGregor Park!!
This is a new park in Washington Township. It "officially" opens at the end of September 2008 but we were told that it is fine to use the park now. The trail and parking is done as are the restrooms. Park hours are dawn to dusk. According to the sign in the park "Sheila MacGregor Beals was a small Scottish woman with a large heart. She came from England after World War II and finally settled in Hamilton County. She loved gardening and walking in the forest you will be using. Her daily 1 - 2 mile walks became legendary and her only desire was that this area would forever be preserved so others could learn to love nature as she did. So use this area wisely and think of Sheila MacGregor who made it all possible." (We were told that the current sign was printed with her name spelled incorrectly and will be changed.) This is a series of 7 caches. The path leads from the parking lot to the northeast. All caches have been placed within 100 feet of the path with mild bushwacking once you leave the trail. It would be my guess that, as with all woods, there is the chance of encountering some stickers (but we only ran into them in placing one of the caches) and poison ivy. Some of the caches were placed near old fencing so beware of barbed wire and fencing on the ground near the caches. None of the hides are tricky - our goal was to get others to go out and enjoy the walk through this nice park. And thanks, Sheila MacGregor, for sharing your lovely forest with us! Cache is a pill bottle.
