Geocache Description:

Somewhere in Orchard Rd., Singapore 3.08pm.

The still of the quiet mid-afternoon was broken by quick, hurried footsteps. The pace quickened and then suddenly the rhythm broke into an accelerated run. She glanced back, then scanned the surrounds. “Take a chance”.  She dashed across into the exit staircase but alas someone was already there. Someone already watching, waiting.  She clutched her handbag tightly and lunged up the stairs.  She felt a sharp jolt at the back of her head as he pulled her by her hair.

“Give it to me!”  He drew her up close.

“Never!” she hissed, her right hand instinctively going into her handbag.  She gripped her handbag tightly. He looked at the handbag and then struggled to hold her in an arm lock.   “Is it a secret worth dying for?” he whispered into her ear as he tightened the grip and started to chortle her with the free hand.  She hissed back “You will never know”.

She was strong for a woman so small. “I must not fail”.  Her hand found the appropriate weapon in her handbag and she drew out an ornate jade dagger. The tip seemed blunt but the edges were sharp enough to penetrate the elephant’s hide.  The movement of the dagger was but a blur but he dodged it easily being trained in the highest form of unarmed combat.  A fist came out of nowhere as she felt a sharp sting and clutched at her nose.  An unfamiliar pain shot through her temples. Her palm was bloodied as she saw the sticky red fluid on her hand. Her head felt dizzy as her knees started to buckle.  Her hand found the glass window for support transferring a crimson image of her palm on the glass.

“NOW!”.   He charged at her and they struggled for a moment before both of them lost balance and tumbled down the stairs.  One flight, two, three.  In the struggle, the handbag found freedom and the contents spilled noisily down the stairs.

They came to a stop as she landed with the heavy set man on top, their momentum stopped abruptly by the wall as his weight crushed her chest.  She felt something in her chest, something cold  as a dreadful realization coursed through her mind. He stood up and saw the crimson spread quickly from the hilt of the dagger over her blouse and soon it was wet with the red fluid with a sick odour of the ominous outcome.

…to be continued…

++++++

This is Part 1 of a murder mystery cache. There are two other parts - Part 2 and Part 3.  Part 3 is a bonus cache.  In order to solve Part 3, you have to collect clues (glyphs) from Part 1 and Part 2.  Part 1 is a traditional cache and Part 2 is a mystery multi and Part 3 is a mystery cache.

Part 1 is on this cache page. The published coordinates are taken from the actual location of the crime scene. You have to figure out where  the location of the crime scene is from the picture and from clues in the story.  The picture shows an iconic shopping location in Orchard Road.    Residents in Singapore should know this. Just ask anyone if you don’t know where it is or what the name is.

The “murder” can only occur in one location in the building.  It is a public location which is easily accessible but please observe the opening hours when you are at the location.  Determine the location of this window and find the cache hidden at the crime scene. As mentioned, the published coordinates is in-situ although reception may be patchy.   You now have a chance to practice your sleuthing skills .

Be careful when retrieving and replacing the cache box. Listen out for muggles – this is a shopping centre after all.

This Part 1 cache contain:

1)       The cache box of course with the usual trade stuff, trackables and stash notes.

2)       Three glyphs (F), (G) and (H) which you must copy if you want to solve Part 3. It is written on a laminated cards and marked as (F), (G) and (H).  Do NOT take it with you. Please return it into the box after you have copied it.

  We hope you will enjoy this series of caches as much as we have enjoyed putting it up but please do not have any spoilers in your logs.

Go get it!  Happy Geocaching!
