A very simple cache, just be a little careful scrambling up the last bit! Wheelchair or mobility scooter users cannot park alongside the cache.
The cache is located on the Southwell platform of the former railway line from Mansfield to Southwell which opened on 3rd April 1871. (Please don't try on the Mansfield platform which is the former station and now converted to a private residence).
This line through Rainworth, Farnsfield and Kirklington can truly be called the Forest Line for this area was the heart of Sherwood Forest. Farnsfield was originally founded on the edge of the forest.
Rail passenger traffic slowly dwindled after the First World War. Farnsfield station closed to passenger traffic in 1929 and goods in 1964. The station house was converted into a desirable residence and became the beginning of the Southwell Trail.
The former engine house has been converted.
Wheelchair or mobility scooter users cannot park alongside the cache.
