Geocache Description:

The stone for the historic Overland Corner Hotel was cut from this quarry.

The quarry was, however, only fully developed after the Second World War. At one time the sea covered this area and fossils reflecting its oceanic history can be seen in the walls of the quarry.

Please do not remove any fossils from this area. It is a historical site and is managed by the National Trust.

The easiest way to access this site is to park in the carpark behind the Overland Corner Hotel, where the Walking Trails begin. Follow the signs for the Heritage Walk. This is a narrow, but well marked track which leads you up and around the quarry, so that you can view it from above. You may of course also wish to go down into the quarry itself in order to examine the walls etc more closely.

You may like to continue on foot to GC1H9F9 Heritage Walk Mineral Mine or return to the carpark and drive a little closer.
