The cab pulled off the road into the driveway, the old man looked out the window almost in disbelief, "It's still here" he said, "After all these years, I can't believe it".
It was 5 years ago that she died in his arms, saying goodbye to him after 51 years of marriage, four children and a lifetime of happiness.
They told him back home in California that in time his heart would heal. They were wrong. The loneliness and emptyness that he felt only worsened.
There was something he had to do, somewhere he had to go.
Every love has a beginning and an end.
As he walked from the cab the memory overwhelmed him. He closed his eyes as they began to tear up.
Opening them, it was 1950 again. He felt someone holding his hand, he turned and looked and there she was, looking at him just as beautiful as she did, here on their first date so many years before.
