You're looking for a small Rubbermaid container. Start at the
parking lot at Three Points just off the Angeles Crest Highway
about two miles east of Newcomb's Ranch. Just north of the parking
lot is access to a portion of the famous Pacific Crest Trail that
goes from the Mexican border to Canada. The cache is about half a
mile up the trail. This portion of the trail is fairly level and
quite pretty. Much of it is shaded, so it’s a nice hike on a warm
day. This part of the Pacific Crest Trail goes to Sulphur Springs
Campground (hence the name of the cache) before climbing over Mt.
Pacifico. The cache can be retrieved without leaving the trail.
Please restore the cache as you found it (including the camouflage)
so mugglers don’t smuggle it into Canada.
Cache contains a log and the usual trinkets, including a small
padlock, lightstick, fingernail clippers, and a genuine
glow-in-the-dark rubber snake.
Speaking of snakes...
BEWARE OF RATTLESNAKES!! USE EXTREME
CAUTION WHEN POKING AROUND HERE.
See Mountain Lovers FTF log
entry.
NOTE: You will need a National Forest Adventure Pass to park
your car while hiking. The pass can be purchased from several
sources, including REI, Sport Chalet, and the US Forestry Service.
There is also a handy ranger kiosk at Clear Creek where the Angeles
Crest and Angeles Forest Highways meet.
