Geocache Description:

Cache is adjacent to the old Lake Miskwabi airstrip, but don't think of landing a plane here now !!
This cache replaces my original Airstrip cache that got blocked in by a beaver pond and all the rain this summer.

In the late 1960's when this area was just being opened up to cottages, there was a old airstrip here used I believe by the developer and I suspect even earlier by lumbering companies. I still remember as a kid when we first started coming here seeing a plane on the strip. At that time this area was wide open and not overgrown. There is still a track down the centre that is now used by off road vehicles and snowmobiles in the winter. If you follow the trail south from the cache site, there is a old lumbering road that leads off into the woods. This road in the winter has been used as part of the snowmobile trail system. As a kid I explored many kilometres of these roads on my mini-bike and later larger dirtbikes. I would not suggest driving a regular vehicle down the track, even though at the beginning you might say "no problem". Between the trail and the lumbering road there is currently a beaver pond.
Please ensure the cover is snapped well shut and the cache concealed well for the next cacher to enjoy !
