Geocache Description:

Located in Bebe State Park near No Bottom Pond

This cache was inspired by a story about No Bottom Pond in "Valley Tales" Volume One ~ Second Edition by Reverend Ernest D. Smith origionally written in 1979 Second printing in 1993. Unfortunately the Reverend has alzheimers. I will attempt to get permission to post the full story as it is difficult to find it in print. Parking can be found at N42 20.470' W073 28.329' Take the right fork at N42 20.853' W073 27.743' following the blue markers to the pond. The western third of No Bottom Pond is on state land and the eastern side is on private property. It is about a mile each way to get to the cache from the parking area. The cache is about 200' +/- inside state land. It is the biggest ammo can I could find with inside dimentions of 23.25" wide, 6.25" deep, and 20" high. It's origional contents was Howitzer ammo. Be sure to re-hide with the geopile camo. Real easy find for newbies with minimal geosense. Be sure to watch out for holes in the ground. Not reccomended at night. If it is berry picking season, bring a bucket. When carrying in this cache, I saw hundreds of blackberry bushes loaded with fruit. I also saw lots of blueberry bushes, but the fruit was all gone from them by now. I saw an enormous ammount of different varieties of mushrooms in the area and lot's of fish, frogs and toads also. Horses are allowed on the main trail, but the last 2/10ths of a mile was on a smaller trail that horses weren't allowed on. Several containers inside for others to make caches of their own. Had smaller ammo can inside as a FTF prize, but I fell asleep while editing the listing and didn't finish till the cache had been posted and found! Please let me know if you find the water level in the pond unusually low. I haven't tried it yet, but I was told that the trail with the blue markers at N 42 20.512' W073 28.325' was a scenic route to the pond. Enjoy!!
