Geocache Description:

For many years our family has been going up to Lake Abanakee every summer for vacation. We go all over the ADKs during the summer, fall and even winter but, Abanakee is always the kids favorite. They love that they can paddle boat, canoe or kayak all over the lake because it is so small and there is very little traffic. But, what they love the most is that they know the lake well enough now to know where the good fishing spots are.

This cache will take you close to the minisliders favorite spot to catch Bass and LOTS of them! Our oldest actually stands in the water off the tip of the island and fishes for hours.

You can put your kayak or canoe in near the Abanakee Hydrocache which is off of Chain of Lakes Road (just west of bridge on Rt 28 - approximately N 43 47.433, W 74 14.083) and then head over for the cache. Anyone who knows this lake knows that there are submerged stumps - so, if you are launching a motor boat - be careful. The island is a favorite spot for locals to swim and fish - so watch out for muggles. Before you leave wave to the folks in the red house in the corner of the bay!!!!

This cache will be difficult with 6 inches of snow or more.

Don't forget to take a peek at the pictures - you may want to bring a pole!
