Thames Chase Forest Centre:: The other
side
We are in Thames Chase Forest Centre woodlands
near Upminster. The woodland is part of
the Thames Chase
Community Forest. An info leaflet from the Thames Chase web
site covering this and adjacent bits of green can be found here.
The area provides hard surfaced / accessible
path to many areas, however to collect all the caches in this set
to get the bonus you will walk into the surrounding area as well as
the Wood so this series can not be considered fully accessible
throughout.
There are some interesting play features for
children scattered about as well as open grass land for fun and
games.
The parking area is open as you would expect,
the gates are locked around dusk, but the forest itself is open all
hours. A fee of £1 is charged for parking. There is no charge to
use the grounds.
Park at N 51 33.136 E 000 16.899 – check
the closing time if you’re coming late.
A bonus cache (GC1FKGV) has
been placed in the vicinity, collect information from this cache
and as directed on the bonus description to find it.
The cache
Whilst I can not promise you peace and quiet
with the M25 just adjacent there are great views from here as well
as a nice picnic spot, you’ll probably be the only person in
this part. A decon is what you’re looking for (make sure the
lid is tightly shut when you're done.
Whilst it
should go without saying, I’ll say it: you do not (and should
not) need to cross the fence to the embankment leading to the M25.
I have provided way points to help to find the appropriate way
across. If you don’t have the full cache description to hand,
I suggest that you head towards
GC1FKFY first of all. The paths that you need to follow on
“The other side” are well defined.
The cache stash note has a letter/number to
collect, write this down as you will need this for the bonus cache
(GC1FKGV).
