Geocache Description:

The cache is located inside the mouth of Netarts Bay off a short beach trail near town.

Netarts bay is a quiet and relatively unknown spot on the Oregon coast compared to other Oregon beach towns. Its pristine bay is full of wildlife with bald eagles, pelicans, and seals, among others. The bay is popular for kayaking, boating, clam digging and crabbing. Remote Netarts Spit is just off shore and can be reached by boat or kayak if you want to skip the 5 mile hike from Cape Lookout State Park.

We vacation here regularly and decided this place needed a cache. The cache is located on a short beach trail steps away from appropriately named Crab Avenue. However; there are several other ways to reach the cache to make it a little more interesting. For a nice beach walk park at the end of Happy Camp just north of the cache. You can also park at the Netarts marina to the south where you can walk up the beach from the breakwater. The fastest and easiest way is to park near the Terimore Motel and follow the nearby trail down towards the beach.

UPDATE: A new staircase was built down to the beach in July, 2010. The cache can be found a small distance from the new stairs.
