This Cache is located on the Mt. Richards summit where there are two cairns. The coordinates take you to the cairns not the cache, the cache is nearby.
It is approximately a 9km return trip from the parking area on Osborne Bay Rd. It is OK to go up this road contrary to what the sign at the gate says. This is Municipality of North Cowichan Community forest there is hiking info on Mt. Richards found on their website: (visit link) click on visitors then hiking trails. The route is mostly good gravel road with some quad track and minor scrambling/bushwhacking. The cache container is a medium sized lock n lock with a variety of goodies. First to find prize is a $5.00 Starbucks card. Second to find prize is a $1.00 scratch ticket. Enjoy the hike or bike and there are some nice views of Crofton Lake and the Gulf Islands along the way. There is a shorter but much steeper possible route from Richards Trail up past our other cache "Mahone Nose The Way".
So get out there and go for a hike.
