Geocache Description:

Wonderful spot to bring the family. Bring a picnic and your swimming suits for a dip in the river. Feel free to bring the dog along, as the park also has a great open dog area across the river.

As you come into Springdale, there is a park on the right with plenty of parking. Follow the coordinates from there. This is a small cache, only a log included. Please bring your own pen. While in the area enjoy a picnic or tubbing down the river, swimming, or just relax with a book under a shade tree. Please keep an eye on the kids as the river can be swift and deep in areas; especially during spring runoff. If you come at the right time, you may see a dog or two playing fetch in the river. Feel free to bring your own dog. There is great place across the bridge to let the dog run and play off the leash.

In December of 2010 there was a massive flood that washed down the river. It took half the park with it, depositing sand and debris across the park. The bridge was damaged, and the park closed for repairs. As it turns out the flood also took my original Picnic and a Swim cache, gone forever down the river. In late January 2011, with the park open again for business, I reestablished the cache and renamed it. If this is your first visit to the cache I hope you find it, and enjoy the park. If you've visited the cache in the past and find yourself in the area, stop by and sign the log again for posterity. After all its not everyday a log you sign is swept away in a flood.

The cache is easy and safely accessible, but I do have a word of caution... As of this writing there is still a lot of debris near the river bank and there are places along the trails across the river that have been eroded leaving soft sandy ledges that collapse easily. Please be careful and keep safe. With a little caution you and your family will have a great time at this little park.
