Dansk - English below!

I Aabybro laver man nemlig ”verdens bedste is”.

English - dansk ovenfor!

Started in 1888 as dairy cooperative, but was privately owned in 1947 and has since 1968 been owned by the family Lindhardt. Anker Lindhardt had worked as dairy manager and went against the current trend and established itself as independent. Today is the son Niels Henrik Lindhardt which operates the dairy, he took over in 1998. After that had been managed on behalf of Arla Foods dairy in Branderup.

The dairy have no suppliers, this stopped Monday in 2002. Since Nestlé stopped its production in Hjørring, gametes based food, Nestle bought almost all the dairy production of skimmed milk. The last year received a dairy around. 4 million kg of milk from nine suppliers, it is still milk cows from the region, which is being used for the production of ice cream, the milk will actually be delivered from Hirtshals Dairy. The dairy is also far from, to be in liquidation. As it happened and still happening to many small dairies. In Aabybro, we are doing "the best ice cream in the world".

The ice cream production came on the track after the Arla Foods introduced mix the product "Kærgården". This changed consumers: the habit and there was an overproduction of fat also in Aabybro Dairy. In Iceland had Niels Henrik Lindhardt familiar with ice cream and the situation mature quickly the idea of starting a production of ice cream home of the father. So holidays and weekends were spent in Aabybro, to develop and begin production of ice cream. The production took the rapid pace and success had begun, therefore, took Niels Henrik leave from the dairy in Branderup to dedicate the ice cream.
At the time, in 1990 - was still 1015 production of ice cream in Denmark, which in one of the two big giants Netlé and Unilever. Today, as far as is known 5 locations, where the 3 is Danish-owned: Polar Ice, Vebbestrup, Aabybro and the other two are: Norwegian own Diploma Ice and Nestlé's Hjem Is in Esbjerg.

How much ice cream is being produced in Aabybro is a secret, however, it is not something which is the major producers block eyes up. It will, however, never, in Aabybro Dairy will not have to compromise on quality and price. It is a form of niche production, as the dairy has found a niche here, however, as more and more sees. In addition to stand strong in the North are the ice cream also sold more and more places in the rest of Denmark. The dairy assortment of ice cream is becoming wider, and it has been a virtue to be flexible and with specific customer needs, including when it comes to the design of wedding cakes of ice.
One of the latest hand on the tiller is a collaboration with one of the country's trendy chefs, Morten Heiberg, including with a past as royal chef of Queen Margrethe 2. Now produced to Morten Heiberg under its own brand Heiberg Is. Ad this road has ithe ice cream from Aabybro in particular found its way into Irmas shops in Copenhagen in addition to the Hotel d'Angleterre and the airlines: Singapore Airlines and SAS.

The dairy also produced butter and smoked cheese, the butter is salted with seethe salt from island: Læsø. All products can be purchased in the dairy store or via the Internet, in the shop are always welcome to taste before you buy.
If you are way past the dairy you must give your time, and for experience's sake, but also because there is almost a complete migration especially on Fridays.
