Absurd Trolly Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

roymerc: Looks like the Parsons are right. No sign of the cachebox, but plenty evidence of a well lubricated party at GZ. Empty bottles of bourbon and beer in about equal numbers. So the trolly has been taken, who knows what for? An ashtray? Or perhaps if jammed on the end of a stick it would make a useful negotiating tool for family disputes. Whatever, I don't feel inclined to go through all the work to make another one, and if I did, no doubt now that the secret is blown it would go the same way. So regretfully this cache is dead, buried, cremated and archived.

There is at least one person who will be happy to see it go – the Ump. This cache was less that the recommended 161 metres away from Rex Libris, and although there was no way possible that one could be mistaken for the other, it rankled him deeply. Rest and relax Ian, it is no more.

Geocache Description:

A stealthy camouflaged cache in the heart of Muggle-Land, and a GPS workout to find it.

There have been mutterings that some of my caches are lacking in GPS usage. This one should make up for that. (How's your trigonometry?) The starting co-ordinates given are bogus -- you didn't really think it is in Princess Royal Harbour did you? There is a convenient carpark at 35° 1.395'S 117° 52.927'E (Also a good starting point for "Rex Libris", GC1FYPE.)

(I have listed the terrain as 1.5 because crossing the road to the roundabout is hazardous for anyone who is not fleet of foot. There is no official crosswalk and the tourists drive to kill! Apart from that, it should be wheelchair safe, but be warned!)

Now, to begin: here are a couple of landmarks in the fair city of Albany:

The first is the roundabout at the top of York Street, and the other is the Fire Station on the corner of Collie and Vancouver. Go to these sites and locate the position marked by the red cross hairs. You will find a small light blue spot on the pavement. Stand on the spot and take an accurate GPS reading. The GeoCache Zero is exactly half way between these two waypoints. Work that out and go there and you will be standing next to an interesting object -- and the deviously disguised cache.

What can I tell you about the cache? It is in plain view, it is easily accessible, it weighs 940 grams, and it looks like it has been there for some time. And when you find it, you will discover why it's called "Absurd Trolly!"

This is a Muggle-rich area, particularly in the tourist season. Much stealth will be required. There is only the logbook in the container, not much room for goodies. Please bring your own writing stick.
Please re-stack the cache so that the muggle card is the first thing seen.
Good Luck and Cheers, 'roymerc'
