Located along the trail to Otter Falls, east of North Bend. Trail is flat, slightly rocky at some points, and shady. Accessing the cache, about 4 miles from the trailhead, requires going slightly off trail and walking up a slight slope.
This cache, the first one placed by Seattle Sherlocks, was a gift from their friends, kchung. The name of the cache, From Gold to Emerald, was derived from kchung being from California (the Golden State) and the Seattle Sherlocks living in the Emerald City. First to find wins a corny, fun box of 50 Great Cheap Dates.
The cache also contains a logbook, pencils, and several trinkets. A travel bug--a funny blue guy named Tiago--was initially included, and he'd like to one day make it to Brazil. The cache is a clear rectangular case (about 3"x4"), hidden in the beauty of the trail to Otter Falls. We recommend that you make it all the way to the falls because it is well worth the trek.
