flying green sneeze Traditional Cache

tealeaf: This was partially a test to see how long Groundspeak's official lock n lock would last in the wild, pretty much out in the open. Five and a half years is not bad and it stayed dry long after the latches had broken.. Since the team that won this as a prize cannot cache together again, I'm going to let it go. Will pick up the remains next time I'm out that way.

Geocache Description:

The easiest parking is at the Rio Grande Nature Center. There's a $3 charge or you can use a state park day use pass. The lot closes at 5pm and they will lock you in. Otherwise you can park on the street a few blocks away and walk through at the end of Candelaria 24/7.

Do not be misled by the unique name of this hide. At the Valencia Fun Day event, Av8ndv8 and I teamed up with Sneezy and Cyclegreen. We were fine with the one prize per team because we all felt that caches were the real prize. Our poker hand proved why we cache instead of cruising casinos but this container got my attention. I've had some bad luck with waterproofness on similar boxes, so this is a test to see if official GC.com boxes live up to the hype. There's a logbook, pencil and room for a few items. The terrain is 2 only because it is more than a half mile round trip from parking; it's a flat, easy stroll.
