A Geocaching Event to give back to the community hosted by
Mach2003!
"Cache In Trash Out is an ongoing environmental initiative
supported by the worldwide geocaching community.
Since 2002, geocachers have been dedicated to cleaning up parks and
other cache-friendly places around the world.
Through these volunteer efforts, we help preserve the natural
beauty of our outdoor resources!" Geocaching.com.
The City of Kelowna Adopt a Stream program encourages
organizations to make a commitment to our environment. Healthy
streams, even very small ones, are an asset to our community.
Streams and stream corridors provide 85% of our wildlife species
with habitat and also provide valuable spawning and rearing areas
for fish. They indirectly affect our drinking water and have a
large influence on recreational water quality.
The BCGA has committed to this area for two years so look forward
to future CITO events.
A sign will be constructed at the site telling everyone that BC
Geocachers are maintaining the stream ! Thanks Mach2003 for your
initiative - what a great project.
The group will meet at the Parkinson Rec Center and clean
up down the creek.
Terrain rating of 1.5, as the creek is 1 meter below grade for the
entire area.
Bring drinking water, and wear long pants and good shoes.
Gloves, bags and tools to be supplied by the City of Kelowna.
This event is sponsored by the British Columbia Geocaching
Association.
