A small green tube attached with white garden wire on a short walk found from the name of the lost pub at the above co-ordinates.
It's best to approach the lost pub on Grovehurst Lane from the Capel Cross end, off the Goudhurst Road. It used to be called "The X & Y" and is now called "X & Y House". Memorise the name and continue to the parking area suggested below. After doing the calculations you can find the cache by taking the footpath opposite the parking area and completing the rectangle of footpaths marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer map 136. This route has stunning views over the Teise valley and of Goudhurst Church, but is not recommended at night because there are a lot of rabbit holes to avoid. For a quicker route continue on foot from the parking area along School House Lane and turn right onto the next marked footpath.

In 1865 Francis Austen's family started work building Capel Manor, or Crack Hall as it was originally known. Built in an Italian style it was demolished in 1966 but the gardens and cellars remain. The pub nearby was bought and closed down by the Austen family as the workmen were spending too much time there, and it was never re-opened. It is now a private house and is one of the oldest buildings in the area.
