Email me for a GPX file of my Garmin tracks. These trails are ridable –
no hike a bike at least for me. Series is 5 miles long so you'll do this
much faster on a bike. Please get off and walk the bad stuff. Be safe.
Here are some reviews of the place – this series will not bring to the
really hard single track that Soapstone is known for – I’ll hide there
in the future.:
“Soapstone, 3 words, great rocky singletrack. Some long down hills,
nemesis short technical climbs, rock gardens etc... Great night ride!
Not so great if its wet. We did a zero degree frozen stream ride
here once - EPIC - frostbite ride, ground felt pretty hard when I
hit it too!!” – Bikerag.com
“Trails here consist of mostly rocky rooty singletrack with lots of
technical ascents and descents. And depending on your
preference, you can certainly find a lot of climbs. Oh yeah,
Soapstone also boasts many rock formations for one to play
on and drop off of! If you are feeling less adventurous, you can
ride the access road up Soapstone to the observation tower –
which is suitable for most level of riders.
At 1075 feet, Soapstone Mountain is the 57th highest peak in
Connecticut. Now thats a useless fact! However, you can follow
the blue blazed Shenipsit Trail to the top of Soapstone and enjoy
the view from the observation tower!” - Crankfire.com
