This cache is located on DNR land through which Gilbert Creek flows. Parking is located at N44.53.080, W92.05.731. The cache is about a 10-15 minute hike from the parking area through tall prairie grass.
The Gilbert Creek area is wonderful during most seasons of the year. I hid the cache during September when aster flowers were in bloom. During the hike in to the cache I jump several ducks along the creek and a white tail deer. To truly enjoy Gilbert Creek, I strongly suggest walking along the creek bank as you try to locate the cache. This may not be the straighter route but possibly the quicker route allowing you to enjoy the gurgling Gilbert Creek. Once the cache is located, you may choose a more direct route back to the parking area.
The cache is a 3" x 11" x 7" ammo can originally containing a wide assortment of items. There was $ for the FTF, a small working flashlight, a Brett Favre snowman, a punch ball, a bell, a soccer ball, a switch plate, a pair of scissors, and many other items for trading.
The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to the land manager at the Menomonie DNR office of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resouce managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
