Geocache Description:

Cache is the first of a series situated near the shores of the Coombabah Saltwater Marshland conservation area. You'll find it a few paces off the public grassy area. This is Team Herbz first hide.

Cache is a PVC tube can with usual logbook, pencil and some interesting items for swapping. There is a good kid's playground and a basketball half-court across the road. It's not a busy road but take care when crossing and watch out for muggles!

After you've found the cache, take a look up at the top of the nearby tall gum tree and see if you can spot the eagle's nest there. If you're lucky you'll see a pair of magnificent osprey. Depending on the time of year, you may also see young eagles being fed. The birds are quite used to admirers as this is an urban area with residents passing regularly.

You can also walk to the edge of the Coombabah Conservation area and have a look at this large saltwater marshland area. There is plenty of other bird and wildlife to be seen here but depending the tide, it can be wet underfoot so bring some waterproof shoes.

All the Shores series caches could be attempted by small boat or canoe (the nearest boat ramp is at Coombabah). This would be a challenging way to attempt then. You would need to time your start carefully on an incoming high tide to avoid getting stuck as Coombabah lake is shallow. But there are deeper channels (look at Google Earth). Reef shoes recommended as you would need to wade through the mangroves to get to some of the caches.
