Geocache Description:

Third cache hidden on the shores of the Coombabah Saltwater Marshes conservation area. Cache is a PVC tube located at the end of the Koala Track.

Best place to start is at the south carpark at the start of the HNT Series and walk or cycle to the location.

The cache is approx 4km from here along some excellent and well maintained tracks. Allow at least an hour if you're cycling, and 2 hours if walking. It's well worth the effort. You'll see plenty wildlife including more roos and wallabys than you can poke a stick at. This area really is one of the Gold Coast's best kept secrets.

If the 8km round trip puts you off then you could start at the northern entrance. Park at S27 53.878 E153deg 22.112 and walk/cycle approx 300m along the canal to the entrance. From here the cache is approx 2km. "Shores 4 - Estuary" micro cache is on the way.

N.B The access gate at the entrance to the south car park (off Pineridge Road) closes automatically at 6pm - don't get caught inside!

All the Shores series caches could be attempted by small boat or canoe (the nearest boat ramp is at Coombabah). This would be a challenging way to attempt then. You would need to time your start carefully on an incoming high tide to avoid getting stuck as Coombabah lake is shallow. But there are deeper channels (look at Google Earth). Reef shoes recommended as you would need to wade through the mangroves to get to some of the caches.
