According to the Pirate Code used by Black Bart and others, marooning was the punishment for stealing from a fellow pirate. The offender was placed on an uninhabited island with some food, a bit of water and a loaded pistol. It was assumed the pirate would use his pistol to commit suicide rather than starve or dehydrate to death.
With a bit of imagination (ok, more than a bit), one can pretend the little stretch of beach near this cache is a deserted island. Never mind the sailboats anchored nearby or the public boat ramp a few hundred yards away. As near to civilization as this is, you'll most probably have the little piece of woods and beach to yourself.
The cache is an ammo can with plenty of room for trades and travel bugs.
