Geocache Description:

The cache is to be found in a standard ammo can with an assortment of trade goods. Located off of Carnahan Road in a scenic overlook.

"This is the land where tallgrasses reign supreme, where tree is a stranger. Big bluestem, switchgrass, and Indiangrass predominate, joining a host of broad-leaved forbs with remarkable flowers and seed heads. Thriving on warm humid summers, this complex array of deep-rooted plants is well adapted to fire, droughts, and grazing. Annual growth of six feet or more results in vast stands of grass, waving and rolling as the ancient seas which gave birth to the Flint Hills.
The treeless, grassy expanse once supported countless bison, elk, and pronghorn, stealthily surveyed by the grey wolf. Although these natives have vanished, victims of the Euroamericn settlers, the tallgrass prairie manages to flourish as it has for millennia. Adaptable to all but human intrusion, the fate of these virgin stands rests with us. Recognintion of the Flint Hills' significance, and an understanding of the role we must assume in the conservation of this unique resource, are critical if the Flint Hills are to be preserved ar the largest remaining intact tallgrass prairie on the continent."

Good Luck and happy hunting.
