A Quiet Stroll - Relics
First
stop on a nice walk alongside the Deschutes River.
I found this area by accident while searching for a location for
Pengana's Cowz cache. The County Park sign at the roadside parking
(off Vail Loop Rd.) was a big clue that there must be something
interesting in the area. I discovered an ideal cache spot, and when
I returned with Pengana to place it she discovered a secret trail
that followed the river downstream. We enjoyed it so much we just
had to bring cachers here too! We decided not to make a multi or
night cache — that left one ideal way to show other cachers this
quiet riverside trail: a mini-series!
At this first stop you will see some relics of an older time
when things were different here. Be sure to make note of the West
coordinates for the final cache in the series, A Quiet Stroll -
Deschutes River
GC1GH7G
Trailhead
N 46.51.029 W 122.40.465
(Beyond the bridge by about 150', on the left)
After finding this cache, follow the main trail to the second
cache in the series A Quiet Stroll - New from Old
GC1GH6P to recover the North coordinates. There are many
side trails to the river and some are well worth stopping and
taking a look.
