Welcome to the Indiana Dunes State Park Wetland Developmental area.
This area has been under development since 2004. The E Coli comes
from many sources, including human and animals. As E coli moves
though a water system sunlight penetrating into the water will kill
it. The wetland created from the stream was designed to slow the
water down with the “Z” pattern, and expose it to more light. It is
hoped that the E coli levels reaching Lake Michigan where the
swimming beach is will be lower, causing fewer lake closings.
Indiana Dunes State Park was established in 1925 is one of the
Crown Jewels in the Hoosier park system. The three miles of
golden sand beach along the shores of Lake Michigan, the unique
geographical mixture of plants and animals, the high quality dune
ecosystem, and one of the largest Nature Preserve of any state park
combined to form the finest natural, scientific and recreational
area in Indiana.

You are looking for a large container
tethered to a tree, please replace as you
found. You might want to bring plenty of bug spray, as the local
wildlife will drain you of all you caching powers. Also, be on the
look out for the unlikely couple the huge deer and raccoon. You
might want to watch you step, as there are plenty of small
creatures around.
Permission has been granted to access the area for caching
purposes only. Please respect the area you are in, as it is helping
our lake. Additional coordinates have been added for parking and
trailhead access.
Thanks to Brad from the Dunes Nature Center for assisting in
placing this cache.
