Geocache Description:

As the story goes, a meteorite impact caused the large depression in the fields. The locals say that strange lights can be seen in the area … caused by the Devil himself. Check it out yourself … if you dare!!!

The crater/cache is located near McDougall Lake, NB. This is one way to get there.

Make your way to Hwy1 and head towards Pennfield. Take Exit 60 to Lake Utopia then turn onto Hwy 785 North. Drive past Lake Utopia (have a quick look for The Monster) and keep heading north. At [N45 18.809 W66 44.933] turn left onto the gravel road. This is the McDougall Lake Road. Drive about 750m. Park and look for an ATV trail on the right, heading uphill at [N45 19.153 W66 45.220]. Follow the ATV trail. At [N45 19.278 W66 45.134] you will cross an abandoned airstrip used during WWII. Keep following the trail through the blueberry barrens. The center of the meteor crater is at [N45 19.657 W66 44.954]. Be careful around the crater rim and climbing the ATV trails in and out of the crater.

Cache is a camo ammo can. GPS WAAS accuracy was 2.1 m when the cache was stashed. Photos of the area that we’ve taken can be seen by visiting the gallery. Please add some of your own. We hope you enjoy your visit to The McDougall Lake Crater. Good luck in finding the cache.
