**********CONGRATULATIONS TO mr.miggle FOR FTF**********In East Haddam, off Rt. 149. Look for the state boat launch sign on the river side.
This is a large facility and is a great place to launch any type of watercraft. It puts you in the CT River above the East Haddam bridge, where you can paddle up the Salmon River at least as far as the Rt 149 bridge (about 3.75 miles one way). Or, if you have two vehicles, spot one at the launch site and put in at the bridge. This is a fun trip in the spring when the Salmon has a pretty good current going—you hardly have to paddle! Other destinations might include Haddam Meadow State Park (about 2.25 miles one way) and Eagles Landing State Park (about 1.2 miles one way). Enjoy the river views and get out on the water.
