Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates.

This puzzle can be very difficult or very easy depending on the person. The cache container itself may also be hard to find. You must solve the puzzle AND find the container to claim the find. All of these Cicadas are common to Missouri.

If you just CAN'T get the puzzle, post a DNF log and I'll send you the coords.

The sounds of insects fill our summer days and nights with their music. Crickets, katydids, grasshoppers and cicadas are musical wizards. The first three are in a group of insect, or order, called the Orthoptera, which has 1,200 species in North America. The cicadas are in the order Homoptera, which has 160 species in North America.

Just as a bird or frog expert can identify the species by their specific songs, so can one identify insects. Mostly only male insects sing; a few female katydids respond to the male call with a click. Male insects call to attract mates of the same species, to defeat competitors, and to maintain territory and spacing to prevent overcrowding.

The cache is located at N 38° 3A.BCA W 092° 1D.EFD
Match the letter in the picture to the Cicadas name on the chart and then play the sound clip and match the song number in the chart below to reveal the correct coordinate for that respective picture's letter. For example: If you think that picture A is the Morning Cicade and that song 1 belongs to the Morning Cicada, then A = 7 because the name and the song intersect at a value of 7 on the chart.

CHECKSUM: A + B + C = 23 and D + E + F = 12
