Cosmo's Travel Bug "Exchange" Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Superhooper55: It is with sadness that I archive Cosmo's Travel Bug "Exchange" after almost 7 years, 720 visits and almost 1000 travel bugs, I have to close it down. It will be fenced off this Monday to make way for new buildings. The big pine tree will be gone that hides the cache. [:(] My office window looked out at the pine tree so I had the opportunity to meet many cachers as they looked in the pine tree for the cache. On occasion, as someone was looking I would open my office window and shout out to them, "your hot" or "your cold" until they spotted it. [:)] I have worked for Brigham Young University for 37 years and all of it spent in this building. Over the last 18 months we have built 2 beautiful new buildings across the street that will house my staff. In fact we started moving over to it two weeks ago and the move will be completed today. It will be hard to watch the building come down and with it, lots of memories will be behind me. In just a few months from now, my career will be finished at BYU as well. The new building is great and again I have another great view from my office, but the pine trees are small and will take years to get big enough to hide a large cache in. So I'm archiving the cache and moving the current travel bugs to another cache. I'm looking forward to retirement because it brings more spare time to cache! Thanks to all who have visited Cosmo's TB "Exchange." It was my very visit hide and I'm sure it will not be my last. It was great meeting so many cachers over the years as they visited the cache. I'll post some pictures of the current happenings around the cache site. Happy caching! [:)] Superhooper

Geocache Description:

It occurred to me and Cosmo (BYU’s Mascot) that we have people from all over the world come to visit BYU and we do not have a Travel Bug exchange anywhere on campus. Besides those that visit campus; every Wednesday families bring their missionary son or daughter to the Missionary Training Center (MTC) to serve a mission for the Mormon Church somewhere in the world. Those families will drive right by this cache on the way to the MTC. What a great opportunity for a quick TB or Geocoin exchange.

Feel free to exchange, drop off, or just take a TB if you need one. I will try to always keep TB’s in the cache.

The cache container is a 6” by 4” camouflaged plastic jar in the PINE tree. Because of the size of the container, it will only take Geocoins and smaller sized Travel Bugs. The cache can be accessed anytime of the day, but the cache is located in a tree next to the building’s front door so it may be easier to attempt to find after 5 PM or on the weekend.

Please do not climb into the tree!! If branches are broken I will have to close down the cache! Grounds takes this very seriously!!!! The cache is located on the North side, 6 feet high and 3 feet in. There is no need to climb into the tree, you can “reach” and “see” about 3 inches of the cache from the North edge of the tree. Please replace the cache “exactly” as you found it and "not deeper" into the tree. Also at the same height level so “everyone” can reach it. Thanks!

***Students if you take a Travel Bug or Geocoin, PLEASE PLEASE log it on the geocaching website under "trackable items." If you need help logging the travel bug click here: (visit link) If you can not figure out how to do it PLEASE RETURN the Travel Bug or Geocoin back to this cache container so someone else can track it. Thanks!
