Cedar Lake Overlook
This is cache #8 in what will be a series of
twenty caches that will have you traveling a "loop" from Colville,
north on Aladdin Road to near the Canadian border on Deep Lake
Boundary Road, and then back around to Colville through Northport
and Kettle Falls. The series will have a few little side trips but
it should be doable in a day with no problem. Please note that not
all of the caches will be placed and active at the same time. We
started with #6 and will get them all completed as quickly as we
can.
The first time I saw Cedar Lake I thought it
was nothing more than a pond. I have since been told that there is
some great fishing in this little lake. In the summer there are
times it is just swarming with small boats.
There is a public boat launch here, and there
is also a pit toilet if you need a "pit" stop. Again no running
water.
The cache is NOT located in the boat launch
area. It is up on the little bluff and once again there is a
convenient area to pull off so you can search. The theme of this
entire series is that I want to make it easy enough so that the
entire family can participate while you see some absolutely
beautiful country in North Eastern Washington.
You may also notice up here a brass survey
marker that the state highway department has placed. In case you
miss the brass marker they give you the bright colored markers on
either side.
This cache contains the typical log book
items as well as a few trinkets to trade around. It is in a small
camo tape covered container with a little bit of room for smaller
items.
Please Remember: Travel Bugs and
Geocoins are NOT to be kept but should be logged and moved to other
caches to help achieve their missions. If you see bugs or coins
please move them along... we don't want them trapped for the
winter.
