SHORT:
Near Lombardi Springs off Highway 92. Terrain is paced but very close to Highway 92, advised to walk only, no kids or dogs due to traffic... I rated it a 1/1 because that is what the rater came up with...
LONG:
This cache is in honor of my Grandfather Joseph Lombardi who is with us in great spirit. He lived the great life and was marrried to my Grandmother for over 50 years! My Grandfather had worked for Caltrans for over 20 years and there came a time for him to retire, though he did not want to, his time had come. At his time of retirement, Caltrans needed a name for the spring, and at the time the spring was still active. Obviously, he must have had the love and respect of his coworkers to have this feature named after him! Upon my Grandfather retiring they named it after him!!! Years later my Grandfather as I stated before passed away, ironically shortly after my Grandfathers passing the spring closed as well. They said it had nothing to do with him passing, the spring had become contaminated and so they capped it off. Years ago people would stop off 92 at this location and get their 5 gallon water jugs filled for free and there was almost always a line…
