Geocache Description:

Part of my cemeteries in Wallowa County series.

This cache will lead you to a small pioneer cemetery that served families on Alder Slope ("The Slope"). There is a parking area near the county road. It is a short, but uphill walk to the cemetery gate. Watch out for 'critter holes' as you walk these grounds!

Now . . . the coordinates will lead you to the headstone for BW and Burnice Davis. You'll now need to do some math!

1) Note how many 'days' are listed for BW. Multiply that number by 2. Add that figure to the final three digits on the 'north' coordinate.

2) Note the last number of Burnices death year. Subtract that number from the original three digit 'west' number.

The new coordinates will lead you to a relatively easy cache find. Enjoy!

(Hard when snow on the ground. And if it's spring and the ground is muddy . . . well, your shoes will take some Wallowa County soil home with you!)

Sit on a bench and take time to enjoy the view - Hurricane Creek to the south, Ruby Peak to the west, Hells Canyon/Seven Devil mountains of Idaho to the east.
