Geocache Description:

regular cache at Sandhill Lake

Our Sandhill Lake multi cache just N of Grayling off old 27 is a lonely soul with only 2 visits this year and 24 finds since April of ’05. Since off the main route multis that require a sizeable hike aren’t every cacher’s “cup ‘o tea”, we decided to place a few more caches out here to entice folks to come and explore this neat out of the way place purchased through the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund. These caches are regular hunts, although they are not park and grabs and still require a hike of over one mile. (except for #4) The colors this time of year are fabulous. The road in is a little rough for the first .25 mile, but the family minivan traveling slowly should have no trouble unless there have been heavy rains recently. Also, be advised that there may be hunters in the area and dress accordingly.

#4 is a short detour on the way to the main parking area and will show you a wetland area. There was evidence of beaver activity when the cache was placed. This one is a fairly short walk from parking to cache on an old trail with a little bushwhack at the end.
